CHAIHANA

CHAIHANA is a hospitality project in Vienna Austria, developed around restaurant. Chaihana reinterprets the atmosphere of the Silk Road through a contemporary architectural language, where tradition is expressed through form, texture, and material rather than imitation. The design is conceived as an immersive indoor oasis, with cascading greenery transforming the ceiling into a living canopy that softens the architecture and blurs the boundary between nature and the built environment. Rich ornamental patterns inspired by Central Asian textiles and ceramics are carefully integrated into upholstery, architectural panels, planters, and decorative installations, creating a cohesive visual identity rather than isolated decorative accents. A restrained palette of warm timber, dark mineral surfaces, terracotta, and deep emerald tones establishes a sophisticated backdrop for the vibrant ethnic motifs and lush vegetation. Sculptural lighting becomes a defining architectural element, from oversized woven fixtures reminiscent of traditional craftsmanship to dramatic organic pendants that function as spatial landmarks. The restaurant is organized as a sequence of intimate dining settings, where generous planters, curved banquettes, and layered seating arrangements create privacy while maintaining visual continuity throughout the space. The open kitchen reinforces the authenticity of the dining experience, allowing culinary rituals to become an integral part of the interior composition rather than a concealed function. Geometry plays a central role in the project, expressed through herringbone flooring, rhythmic ceiling structures, arches, and repeating circular forms that establish movement and architectural order. The abundance of natural materials, handcrafted details, and botanical elements creates a tactile environment where every surface contributes to the overall narrative. The work combines with a scope focused on , creating a clear atmosphere for daily use, photography and long-term spatial memory.
